The pedestrian crossing at Wyoming Springs has become unsafe. We walk our children everyday to Fern Bluff Elementary and nearly on a daily basis we see people speeding and not stopping for the crossing guard until they are in the middle of the street. 

It's even worse when there are no crossing guards, a majority of drivers are distracted and many do not see the pedestrian lights flashing. Many times we are standing on the center island and some drivers have stopped but others speed through without even stopping to think why the other drivers have stopped

Many times I have been crossing a seemingly empty Wyoming Springs (both by myself and my small children) with the lights on, only to see a driver fly past us, a few times without even slowing down. It's very disconcerting that kids cross this regularly.

The lights are not very bright and are very high, both north and south bound lanes have curves which means trees block the lights, add to that people now speeding means that even if they do see the pedestrian lights, they will have to stop quickly.

More lights need to be added to the pedestrian crossing, or a pedestrian bridge to enable safer crossing

When are we as a community going to address this? When a kid biking to school gets run over?
