Last Thursday, March 2nd, 70 people were sitting in the waiting room of the DOE on 100 Gold Street (NY, NY), Friday 50 parents were present, while Marilyn began her 3020a (termination) hearing. Principal Monika Garg was there on Thursday. She did not even casually address the parents in the waiting room, even though she has sent two emails to the community stating she wants Marilyn back at our school as soon as possible, and that she is not responsible for this "misconduct" charge. She seemed intent on avoiding parents, as many sat in the waiting room from 9:30 to 5pm. The children in Marilyn's classroom miss her terribly and are displaying their sense of loss in different ways. An adequate substitute has not been placed in the classroom to help support our children and Principal Garg has not checked in with the classroom teacher or the parents to see what else she can do to help our children. Next Friday, March 10th at 9:30am, we would like to fill the room with as many people as possible. We hope this is the last day of Marilyn's hearing. Please join us in solidarity and continue to share our story widely. We are desperate to salvage what is left of our school. Bringing back our beloved, veteran teachers that have been targeted and harassed by Principal Garg is crucial for Central Park East One's preservation of practices. The destruction of our school is devastating, however the complete disregard for our children is intolerable. It is clear she acts with little interest for them and only interest in her career. #savecpe1
