Develop East Delhi as arts and cultural hub focussed on schools and neibourhoods

The Issue

Not much work has been done to develop an arts education profile for schools in East Delhi. There is tremendous scope to inculcate arts activities, especially the performing arts, in government schools, to enhance aesthetic and creative abilities of children. This will help children to develop a more rounded personality, and support the academic curriculum in education. Children need to be exposed to a wide range of arts activities by involving professional experts. By focussing on government schools in East Delhi, a model can be evolved in a systematic way.

“Dear Supporters, Thank you for sending in your suggestion on Change.org in response to my vision building for East Delhi Manifesto. East Delhi has suffered governmental neglect for many decades and it is visible in the absence of thriving cultural centres in the constituency. I have announced in my manifesto that there will be 5 new cultural centres set up to promote art and culture in East Delhi. Schools and colleges in will be encouraged to collaborate with these cultural centres in East Delhi, so as to nurture children and youth in the field of art and culture. Despite people’s demands, community centres have not been set up in many areas of the constituency, including Sunder Nagar and near Chilla Janta Flats. This will be immediately rectified. New community centres with public facilities such as clean toilets, drinking water and regular maintenance work, will be provided in all localities of East Delhi. Community centres for senior citizens will be set-up in each Vidhansabha of East Delhi. I believe that true representation of peoples’ concerns and strong political will can play a big role in the improvement and development of a constituency.
