Dear Supporters,
It’s time for us to rally behind this cause. A 22-year-old woman in Bangalore went through a nightmarish experience when an argument broke out between her and the Ola cab driver over the mode of payment. Things escalated quickly, and the driver reportedly abused, pushed and even threatened the girl. You can read all about it in The News Minute’s report.
Reading about this incident sent chills running down my spine. This incident brought back memories of the event that made me start this campaign. This latest incident proves again that we need more female cab drivers, with whom women passengers can travel safely and without any fear.
How many more such incidents before Ola Cabs takes concrete steps towards ensuring the safety of their female clientele? Ola Cabs needs to respond to our concerns. No woman should have to live in fear forever with a thought looming at the back of our minds that we too might end up facing similar abuse and harassment if we take cabs alone. So, as I stated earlier, women drivers with all-round training (including self-defense) are sure to allay these fears.
I have tweeted about the same to Ola Cabs, and I would be grateful if all 60,000 of you who signed my petition could support me in making our demand heard.
You can help by doing all or any of the following
1. Retweet my tweet and share it with your friends and family:
2. Call Ola Cabs’ helpline and ask for cabs driven by women: 9538043753 (Please add your std code before the number.)
Let’s not stop till we see Ola cabs introducing 200 cabs by women.
