💜 A little update on Beyond the Sentence UK 💜

When I started this petition, it came from my own experience of domestic abuse and the fear of knowing that an offender who had repeatedly caused harm could eventually be released.
But over the last few months, something has happened that I never expected.
The petition has grown into something much bigger than my own story.
I’ve heard from survivors of domestic abuse, families who have lost loved ones to serious violence and people whose lives have been affected by repeat offenders. Although our circumstances are different, there is a common question running through so many of these stories:
What happens when someone continues to pose a serious risk, while victims and families are left carrying the consequences?
That’s why I’ve updated the wording of the petition.
Domestic abuse and victim protection will always be at the heart of Beyond the Sentence UK because that’s where this campaign began and that’s what I personally understand.
But I don’t want to put a limit on whose voice deserves to be heard.
I also believe in rehabilitation. I’ve experienced change myself, and I know people can rebuild their lives after prison, addiction and serious mistakes. I want Beyond the Sentence UK to eventually help create those opportunities too.
So this campaign isn’t about keeping everyone in prison.
It’s about recognising the difference between genuine rehabilitation and continued serious risk, while making sure victims, families and communities aren’t forgotten.
The petition has grown.
And I want it to grow into something that can make a real difference for all of us affected by repeat offending.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me from the beginning and to everyone who has trusted me with their story.
This is still our campaign. 💜
