From an unnamed, reliable city employee: The public hearing scheduled for May 29, 2018 will be the opportunity for the community to share their view on the expansion of TIRZ 10A and creation of TIRZs 11 and 12. After the public hearing, City Council will vote on establishing the TIRZs’ boundaries, board and preliminary finance/project plan. Please note that the preliminary finance and project plan is not final and will continue to evolve as staff evaluates feasibility and include input for the community. On June 12, 2018, the TIRZ Board will meet to recommend or deny the final project and finance plan. Additionally, the first reading of ordinance adopting the final project and finance plan will be held. The purpose of the reading is to notify council and the public about the upcoming public hearing. On June 26, 2018, a public hearing is scheduled and will give the community an opportunity to share their view on the final project and finance plan. After the public hearing, City Council will vote whether or not they would like to adopt the final project and finance plan. This is the final step in the process. The City’s Economic and International Development Department are hosting community meetings throughout El Paso to explain the purpose the TIRZ. Any interested person is invited to attend these meetings to learn more; the meetings will be held as follows: · May 31 at 6 p.m. at the Westside Regional Command Center, 4801 Osbourne. · June 6 at 6 p.m. at the Northeast Regional Command Center, 9600 Dyer St. · June 7 at 6 p.m. at the Pebble Hills Regional Command Center, 10780 Pebble Hills In addition, Representative Svarzbein of District 1 is hosting an additional meeting that will focus on the expansion of TIRZ 10 and the creation of TIRZ 12 as follows: · May 30 at 7 p.m. at Eloise Restaurant, 225 Shadow Mountain.
