Last night the Bethlehem Town Board voted unanimously (5-0) to rebuild the dive pool. Just a few months ago we were told that the slide pool was a "done deal" and that workers would be breaking ground on January 1. By unifying as one voice we were able to convince the Town Board to reconsider. I am so proud of our community.
To everyone who signed this petition, who attended or spoke at a Board Meeting, who wrote letters to or had meetings with town officials, YOU did it! Not only have we saved the dive pool but we have also saved our town a significant amount of money.
Without fully considering and seeking bids on both options, the Town was not in a position to make the best financial decision for the residents. Our collective voices, however, convinced the Board to send the two options out for bid, it was discovered that the dive pool could be replaced for $719k, that is $61,000 LESS than the original estimated cost for the slide pool ($780k).
Thank you for joining me in this effort.
