BET: We want BET to incorporate a category that spotlights literature and poetry on the BET awards show.

The Issue

This is important because of the huge amount of impressionable young people influenced by what they see on BET every day. To NOT recognize the existence of a growing crop of talented African-American authors, is a missed opportunity to sow the necessary seed in order to reap a next generation of brown readers.
