GURGAON: Residents of Park View Residency & Mahindra Aura along with other association s in Palam Vihar are still wearing pollution masks even a day after Diwali, and it has got nothing to do with pollution caused due to firecrackers. They protested against the MCG on Friday, alleging deteriorating air quality in their vicinity owing to construction of a concrete road right outside their housing society.
More tn Hundreds of residents held a demonstration against MCG for failing to ensure that dust pollution norms are followed at the construction site.

"This road has been under construction for over six months now, and in fact the contractor has abandoned the work midway as he was not paid by the MCG which is carrying out the work done now. None of the guidelines prescribed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) are being followed at the construction site. We have lodged complaints with the MCG many a time, but no action was taken so far. We also approached the local police and the traffic police, but they expressed helplessness, and instead asked us to go to NGT, which we have already done. We decided to protest in an attempt to draw the urgent attention of MCG officials," Vikas Kumar, RWA member, said.

The MCG, however, feigned ignorance when TOI contacted a senior official. "I am not aware about the situation there as such work is undertaken by the engineering wing. I will look into this matter," additional municipal commissioner Narhari Banger said.
Residents also alleged that the road construction also leads to massive traffic snarls every day.

"Around 2,500 residents live in this housing society. Ever since the road construction has started, we have witnessed snarls for hours as there is total mismanagement by all the authorities. At times it takes over an hour to enter or exit our society due to traffic jams outside. We simply dread to think what will happen in an emergency situation. The authorities need to wake up from their slumber," said RWA president C S Kumar.
