Implement an apolitical paradigm shift in The US Congressional House of Representatives
The Issue
Sign to implement an inevitable self-triggering paradigm shift that utilizes the concept of a viral idea and our EXISTING system of government (US) to harness the political will of "We the People" in The Congressional House of Representatives by removing party affiliation, money, and negativity from The House seat election cycle. A simple app can be used to recruit and elect Congressional Representatives and fill staff positions based on uploaded college transcripts. This will allow for transparency in qualification standards while negating the need for fundraising and public speaking to get elected and write good laws. Candidates with the highest GPA in designated fields of study (i.e. environmental science, economics, history etc.) will win candidacy. Candidate staff members are recruited in the same fashion to avoid cronyism. All the information needed to develop the app can be found at ballotpedia.org.
This idea should appeal to both sides of the political aisle since it is an apolitical solution rooted in common sense and practicality. The following three pieces of legislation drawn up in advance should be common ground for most of us while ensuring a successful outcome in our attempt to "fix our broken system" thru the election cycle of 2018:
(1) Fix voting abnormalities and address concerns of rigged elections. By investing in technology such as Clear Ballot's and streamlining voting rights at the federal level, voters will not be disenfranchised or have to wait in long lines at the voting booth. Safeguarding our democracy for future generations should have the support of 100% of the population as we enter the cyber age.
(2) Take money out of the Senate and presidential races with campaign finance reform. Establish an exploratory committee to enhance the implementation of the paradigm shift by developing programs that will infuse an entrepreneurial spirit into our system of government to increase the standard of living for all.
(3) Free the cannabis plant. It's a plant; let's treat it like one.
Most people are aware the manufactured debate that claims the cannabis plant is dangerous and a gateway drug is a debate that protects the pharmaceutical industry's profit margin, sadly incarcerates many, hinders important research opportunities to learn more about its' medicinal remedies, and only exacerbates the opioid crisis. If you lie to kids about the dangers of one drug (cannabis), they might assume you are lying to them about others (Heroin, Oxycontin etc.). By declaring the cannabis plant a plant at the federal level, states will not be burdened with creating new regulatory agencies as their citizens move to legalize it. The taxing schemes and talk of who will make the most money from the plant is just another form of "taxation without representation" and another reason why "We the People" are fed up. Because it is less dangerous, the cannabis plant should be treated like alcohol.
Incumbents should be given the opportunity to endorse the digital platform of "We the People." The will of the people will be realized sooner once the incumbents see the writing on the wall and what they must do to secure their future employment by us in the next election cycle.
Our founding fathers understood that the true power of a democracy is realized at the local level where "the little guy's voice" can be heard. The digital age easily taps the strength of our democratic structure through The Congressional House. This paradigm shift provides a viable solution to the dissatisfaction voiced by so many by converting negative energy into positive at the voting booth. Legislation aimed at fueling hatred and bigotry thru discrimination will be a thing of the past. Being governed by those that studied and are knowledgeable in the forces and intricacies of what areas belong in the public domain versus the private sector will alleviate the frustrations many feel today. Representation that adapts to a closer proximation to the true meaning of "We the People" will strengthen the free market enterprise by subduing the negative forces (pollution, planet de-beautification, inequality etc.) and inefficiencies associated with concentrated wealth, oligarchs, monopolies, stale ideas, and outdated technology. Instead of "privatizing" and dismantling what makes America great, let's focus on building on our foundation to make her greater.
The Congressional House is where "We the People" can take our government back. The House is where fresh new ideas are born so it is only natural to staff it with the millennial generation to dissolve the political gridlock that exists today. The age requirement for a House seat is only 25 years old. Once candidates are identified, a neighbor to neighbor campaign fueled on hope and optimism will make it a joy to participate in our democracy. The thought of entering an era where a middle class family can be comfortably supported on one-income and their kids can enjoy learning about art and music in their public schools again should provide the enthusiasm needed to make this happen. Meeting new neighbors while walking door to door to collect signatures for our new paradigm shift candidates will provide great exercise, bring the country together, and create a wave of enthusiasm culminating in record breaking voter turn-out come 2018. This shift will extend an olive branch to the world and set the stage for a new era of international cooperation and peaceful globalism as we share ideas and engineering solutions to the world's problems.
Keynesian economic theory tells us that an increase in government spending provides an economic stimulus that fuels job creation etc. By investing in ourselves and augmenting the budgets of agencies such as The Center for Disease Control and The National Institute of Health, graduates with biology and chemistry majors can be hired to cure diseases such as cancer, ALS, ebola, and zika at a faster pace. Unleashing newly developed, bottled-up technology and bringing back manufacturing by revamping our infrastructure to incorporate state of the art railway and waterway systems into affordable quality public transportation will reduce our carbon footprint, create good jobs, and alleviate traffic congestion. The opportunities provided by this paradigm shift are limitless.
A global progress indicator should be one measured by a culturally diverse, family-friendly society that is happier and healthier. Demographic trends and statistics show that this paradigm shift is inevitable because you can't stop progress or the wheels of efficiency when it comes to self-government. So, does anyone know a good coder?
