Virtually all communities that surround Bernie, Missouri have adopted new rules and regulations concerning the treatment of animals and are now no kill or low kill towns. We believe that there are enough citizens in our community who want to help solve the town's problem of unwanted or lost animals. The euthanization of animals is both costly to the city and unnecessary. We want to ensure that the city is open to volunteers helping with animals impounded in the Bernie Animal Shelter, who can devote time and resources to finding homes or rescues for the animals. Care and compassion is abundant in our community and it is time that our animal control policies reflect that as well.
