Dear neighbors, New York, August, 2013

You may have noticed the disturbing ship horns that honk all day long.

The inconvenient sound is coming from the NY Waterway ferries and interrupts our sleep every morning before 6am. Even during the day it's no pleasure.

There was no honking for the last 25 years and now the USCG states that they have to follow the rules of the road which already exists for a long time.

The whole matter was pushed by several complaints of a kayaker forcing the ferries to use their horns.

There was no actual incident - and if you go to a ferry station and watch the situation you will clearly be able to see that there is no increase in security because of this 1,000 horn blasts a day.

Therefore we already sent a complaint to NY Waterway:

and got the answer „coastguard regulations!“.

Maybe everyone who feels stressed out by this, could write an email or call them to stop this.
