Stop Development on Kinarla Lough!

  • At least 120 additional cars adding to the already congested Shore Rd & Derrygonnely Rd.  Sitting in traffic jams, stuck in school runs, trying to get to work is already a challenge, adding more vehicles travelling into Enniskillen in this area without any planning or investment in adapting our roads to meet this additional pressure is not acceptable.
  • Air pollution! 87 new homes bringing additional cars impact on the quality of our air. Fermanagh doesn't have an air quality assessment so we have no way of knowing if our air is already of a good standard. Vehicle emissions, machinery, heavy duty work vehicles all contribute to the reduction of air quality, we don't know what impact this may have on our health, on our children's health, on our elderly and vulnerable.
  • Kinarla Lough, a beautiful hidden gem of great historical and cultural interest is already under scrutiny for the ongoing neglect and dumping of waste. Developing 87 homes around this lake can only contribute further to its destruction and eventual disappearance. Seepage from oil and builders waste, the excavation and disturbance of the land that includes an historical gravel pit, will make its way into the earth & waterways below into the Lough which is linked to the wider Lough Erne. Polluting Kinarla Lough is polluting Lough Erne.  Fermanagh is proud of our beautiful waterways, we cannot allow developers to continually disregard its importance placing their own greed for profit over the wider impact on our beautiful Fermanagh countryside.
  • Destruction of our wildlife! Kinarla Lough and its surrounding areas are home to a number of different animals and bird-life. Nesting swans, herons, bat-roosts, red-squirrels, badgers, pine-martens are all native to this area and are seen daily. Neglect of Kinarla Lough has already seen a reduction in the numbers of swans in the area, further development around this area can only decrease their numbers further and destroy the natural habitat of all these wildlife.
