We ask that Ben Howlett does not begin his term as newly elected MP for Bath by misrepresenting the wishes of his constituents on the issue of a repeal of the ban on fox hunting and other barbaric bloodsports that involve the hunting down of wild animals with hounds.

Polling by YouGov conducted in January this year found that 51% of the population supported the current fox hunting ban, with only 33% opposed to it. It will be a defining issue for Ben Howlett's future as MP of Bath should he use his free vote on the issue of a repeal of the hunting act to support a return to an activity supported by only a small minority of people in rural communities and less in urban ones throughout the UK.

Foxes and other wildlife suffer unthinkable stress, terror and fear from the chase before being ripped limb from limb by hounds driven by men on horseback. A return of this inhumane practise in 2015 would be a regressive step and is one we would not support our MP should he take such an unsupported position in his vote on behalf of Bath constituents.
