Mornington Community Safelink - Priority 1 for completing the Bay Trail on the Mornington Peninsula - Community Update June 2020

  • The Mornington Community Safelink is getting unprecedented use, in the current lock down,  with many more people walking and trying to cycle the current goat track, where the Safelink will be
  • The Mornington Community Safelink Group is continuing to meet regularly with Council staff, Councillors and local members of Parliament, to advocate for its construction
  • The Safelink’s Petition at https://www.change.org/morningtonsafelink now has over 1500 signatures
  • There are over 20 letters of support from schools and community organisations
  • The Bicycle Network are advocating for it as a priority in completing the Bay Trail on the Mornington Peninsula
  • Mornington Peninsula Shire Council are supporting it with a newly appointed consultant to assist with obtaining State and Federal Funding
  • The Council have completed a very detailed study that demonstrates the significant economic benefit of completing the Bay Trail on the Peninsula. It recognises the Mornington to Moorooduc link as Priority 1
  • The offices of our local politicians are all working to achieve it, especially those of Greg Hunt and Jane Garrett
  • Please help by signing the petition, following the Safelink on Facebook/Instagram, at ==>  https://www.facebook.com/morningtonsafelink/   @morningtonsafelink sharing our petition to your networks and talking to your local Councillors and Politicians. Thanks to everyone who already has done so, advocacy is all about ground swell and every time we increase community support, it gains further positive momentum.

The Mornington Community Safelink will run along the old Railway Line from the end of Peninsula Link Trail, at Moorooduc Station to the Mornington Station on the corner of Yuilles and Watts Roads, and ultimately into Main St Mornington.
