32,000 Signatures And Climbing

It’s been an overwhelming response to our petition with almost 32,000 signatures so far! We’d like to thank you very much for signing and spreading the word. Whilst it's only a small development, if it goes ahead it will probably mean the end of the Bells surfing experience as we know it because of the precedence it would set & other properties following suit. We are ready for the VCAT hearing which is happening this Monday 24th October and we will be presenting the petition as part of our submission. It would be really terrific if you get share the petition on your social media sites to get more signatures before the hearing. Unfortunately, it is inevitable that Bells we be subject to further proposals for inappropriate development within the viewshed and hinterland and potentially for development within the Bells Beach Surfing Recreation Reserve itself. If you would like to do more to look after Bells Beach into the future you my like to go on the Surfrider Foundation Surf Coast branch email list where we will keep you up to date with what we are up to and any news about Bells. Just send a message to surfcoast@surfrider.org.au and we’ll add you to the list. In the future we may run a crowd funding campaign to raise money to defend Bells against these developments, so the more people we can get in contact with, the greater the success of the crowd funding. This is the online portal for informing the community about the threats and challenges faced by Bells.
