Belfast City Council: Please erect signage at Cavehill for people who may be in distress.

The Issue

Northern Ireland has the highest rate of suicide in the UK. Considering that mental health services have been cut considerably, it seems that to the majority of people in Northern Ireland strongly feel that we are a crisis point.

Following the loss of a friend in July 2017, and the recent loss of Michael Cullen a prominent figure in the beatboxing community in Ireland and the UK, I have recently appealed to previous Lord Mayors to ask City Council to erect signage at points around Belfast where people may find them in distress; Cavehill being the most prominent area that has featured recently in the news. Ideally, I feel it should also be erected at train stations, forest parks and bridges.

Nichola Mallon has recently referenced this in a media post; but if we can support this as a community, maybe we can bring some hope through the darkness of loss.
