A major development
Yesterday, our local MP, Dr Holland, met with people concerned about the future of Cuttagee Bridge, and today he launched a petition calling on Bega Valley Shire Council to "get on with the job".

Council does need to get on with work on Cuttagee Bridge, but Dr Holland's petition implies Council needs to get on with the construction of the two lane concrete bridge.
The election promise provided $15 million to restore and repair the Cuttagee bridge. It was not for a 2 lane concrete replacement devoid of Heritage values.
The proposed 12.2 metre wide bridge is over-engineered, more suitable for a motorway rather than a coastal tourist drive. The current composite timber bridge will have to be destroyed, and it does not comply with Government climate change and coastal management policies. The community has been deceived . Council has wasted $3m of taxpayer money thus far, with no obvious result, and no obvious funding for the near $30 m project.
The petition needs to be supported but with the outcome that the bridge is repaired/restored as per the election promise 3 years ago.
