This petition is to stop the commerical rezoning of the Agricultural Preserve District adjoining the New London Airport to a Planned Commercial District and the modification of the Current Land Use Permit to add Nighttime Operations (Rezoning Application #RZ190001 & Special Use Permit Application #SU190001).

The New London Airport is currently a Public Use Airport privately owned by Liberty University Inc. and is licensed by the State of Virginia.Liberty's Project Master Plan has not yet been coordinated/reviewed with the Virginia Department of Aviation. This is a Public Safety concern.

The Liberty Project Master Plan proposes a new runway that can accommodate small to mid-size jets. Liberty provides no detailed analyses of the impacts to the adjoining properties or the surrounding areas, or existing site conditions such as the lake that would need to be filled to accommodate their new runway.

This district has no representation on the planning commission for this critical vote, as the planning commission representative for our district is a Liberty employee and therefore will not be voting.

Allot of the citizens in the New London/Bethel Church/Evington area are growing concerned with how these changes to their community will impact their living situation, and their property value. All help will be welcomed even if you don't live in the area. Signatures only count if you live in the Bedford County district.
