3/6/2020 updates

Hello,

Since my last update in December, I met with representatives from the City of Beaverton in late December, then have spent the past 8 weeks observing the progress of the construction that began in November, and assessing how I can advocate for mindful city planning going forward, and advocate for the residents of The Rise Central  who will be most directly affected by the (5 ID'd types of) pollution from the garage.

First, to recap my meeting with the city reps, I appreciated that they allowed me to express my concerns and asked that they took them forward to the appropriate leaders. At that time I  had already been working to engage leadership for several weeks, so I left optimistic that these topics would be raised. That said, it was also apparent that the project would continue without pause (barring mass protests), so at the very least they could work to resolve the potential issues that are otherwise inevitable.

Based on my meeting and the foreseeable future I will continue to advocate for mindful urban development, thru continuing to grow this audience plus promote thought leadership that aligns with a more sustainable future.
Thank you again  I appreciate your support!

Best,
Mark

PS - I took the picture at Kaiser-Permanente Tanasbourne due to how starkly the massive 7 story garage blocks the AM sunlight (8:40A), and the PRCA garage will be even closer than this to The Rise. There are a variety of ways parking for the hospital could have been better incorporated into the surrounding community.
