CPO Upheld AGAIN!

The Beaufort County Natural Resources Committee members voted 6-3 to DENY the latest proposal by the Pine Island destructioneer and his attorney.  Thus, the St. Helena Island Cultural Protection Overlay District was upheld once again!  They supported the Beaufort County Planning Staff recommendations and Beaufort County Planning Commissions' unanimous decision to DENY this request.  
 
The entire Beaufort County Council will hear this request on Monday, November 9, 2026 at 6 pm at 100 Ribaut Road in Beaufort, SC.  Please be there early to support those that stand up and speak to uphold the CPO and DENY any settlements and request for carve outs or map amendments during the Public Comment period.  If you cannot attend, please write to the Beaufort County Council members. 
 
We pray that Beaufort County Council supports the denial of this request once again and continues to uphold the law.
