Dear Supporters,
We’d like to share an important update and clarification regarding our ongoing petition for accommodation in the workplace.
We fully understand that employers have a legal obligation to uphold safety standards and manage costs, and we respect the concept of undue hardship. However, we believe there is a practical and reasonable path forward that honors both safety and individual rights.
To help address the concern of cost, we have offered to purchase our own Powered Air-Purifying Respirators (PAPR) equipment that fully meets the required safety standards and does not place any financial burden on the employer.
In terms of safety, there are approved and widely available alternatives on the market that allow individuals with beards to perform their duties without compromising protection.
This is not solely about religious rights. Many individuals keep beards for medical reasons, such as skin conditions that make shaving harmful, or out of bodily autonomy and personal dignity. Regardless of the reason, the goal is the same: to work safely while being respected as whole individuals.
We are not asking for exemptions that undermine safety. We are simply and humbly requesting that employers allow the use of proven, safe alternative PPE that respects religious freedom, medical needs, and individual autonomy.
This is about fairness, dignity, and inclusion. Thank you for standing with us as we continue to advocate for a solution that works for everyone.
With appreciation,
Petition Organizer
