As a former international cricketer, I have experienced first hand how the cricket ball feels when it hits the head. So many players in India don't use a helmet while batting, fielding close-in, and wicketkeeping, because it's not compulsory, and because being hit is unlikely. But a closer look shows that freak accidents are more common than we think. Phil Hughes was not the first to die being hit by a cricket ball, and wont be the last. Join me in my appeal to the BCCI, who are the caretakers of cricketers in the country, to make our brothers and sisters safer. Mr. Shashank Manohar, Mr. Anurag Thakur, MAKE HELMETS MANDATORY while batting and fielding/wicket-keeping close to the stumps! Lets save the life of the next Raman Lamba.
