First, thank you to everyone who has signed the petition so far!
Please continue to share, the more people that sign, the greater impact this will have.
As part of this campaign, I wish to collect up-to-date and accurate about the public's concerns and usage. In order to do this, I have created an online survey - Please take a moment to fill it out!
In the 2012 report, the cost-benefit analysis did not consider the option of adding a pedestrian walkway or bicycle path unless it was in conjunction with other improvements, seemingly based on the projected usage at the time - they did not appear to consider the possibility that there wasn't much bike/pedestrian traffic because it was (and still is) completely unsafe to use. The above survey might shed some light on what the actual usage would look like.
I have started the process of reaching out for letters of support from local government bodies (Cheam First Nation, Village of HHS, DOK), representatives (MLAs Paddon & Coulter, MPs Strahl & Vis), emergency service providers (Agassiz & Popkum Fire, Kent-Harrison Search and Rescue), and interest groups (Agassiz-Harrison Chamber of Commerce/Tourism Harrison, Popkum Residents' Association, Tourism Chilliwack, CEPCO, Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce, etc).
If you would like to write a personal letter of support, or represent a group that would like to get involved, please reach out to me at laurmitchell@gmail.com
Thanks again!
