The UK loves Reggae music ; we have major reggae scenes in all our big cities and it continues to be popular worldwide. Like most music, it continues to evolve with the times. It is listened to throughout the world and is well respected, accepted ,enjoyed and loved.
However, this genre is being failed in the UK by being under represented on main stream radio..Past, present and up and coming reggae artist are not being given a platform for their music. Without this, not only is their music not being heard by wider audiences, the artists are not getting recognition. Without this recognition they are then not on a level playing field with other artists both in the charts and in music awards. This music and it's artists deserve equal opportunities to showcase their music alongside all other genres.
2018 marks 50 years of reggae music; let this be the year that reggae music comes back to UK airwaves and artists both new and old receive those much deserved nominations.
