Remove BBC Radio 1 Ageist Ban On Madonna & Others Now!

Madonna is one of the most successful recording artists in history, selling over 300 million albums. With a career spanning an unprecedented 35 years, Madonna time and time again has proven her skills as an artist and performer, as well as her popularity - most recently her performance of "Living For Love" at the 2015 Grammy Awards was the most watched and tweeted about performance of the night.
Yet despite popular demand, BBC Radio 1 have refused to play Madonna's Living For Love, but have denied 'banning' artists based on age, stating tracks chosen are based on "musical merit and relevance to [their] young audience on a case-by-case basis, and whilst around 40% of the country's 15 to 29-year-olds tune into Radio 1 each week, an artist's age is never a factor."
Considering Living For Love has received overwhelming praise from music critics - as well as Radio 1 highlighting the age of their "young audience" twice in their statement - it is clear "musical merit" has nothing to do with Radio 1's choice and that their Madonna exclusion is purely based upon a prejudice and archaic notion that aging equals irrelevancy.
Age should not be a factor in determining musical relevancy. This is discrimination within the workplace. Ageism, sexism, racism have no place in art.
Artists like Robbie Williams, Take That, Kylie Minogue ect. have all suffered at the hands of Radio stations. Do not let this happen to Madonna.
