Petition updateStammering is not funny

Possibly a natural conclusion

Hello everyone, Hope you have all had good 2017's and still are for what is left of it. I wrote in January that hopefully at that time in 2018 I could absolutely confirm the petition had been effective. I am writing a bit earlier because having received the Christmas TV Times, it seems "Still Open All Hours" is not being aired. I do not think we should flatter ourselves that much (that doesn't mean I have been against the sit-com per se)! It might simply be the BBC feels it has had a fair run and/or because the writer, Roy Clarke, is now age 87. However, if it is the end, apart from possible repeats, the matter is in effect resolved. The Christmas TV Times runs to Friday 5th January. It is possible there has been rescheduling so I will keep the petition live for the time being. If it seems the programme wont be aired I will close it. If new runs come along any time in the future I can look at it again then. My one further observation is that I mentioned before that Roy Clarke wrote in "Mail Online" bemoaning political correctness having gone mad etc. I did wonder if the petition was part of what prompted him so also wonder if the combination of his age and possible annoyance the BBC eventually decided to axe the stammering has something to do with. I tell myself to keep it in perspective but I do not think it implausible. In conclusion, I thank you for your support and hope you are as pleased as me that on the face of it the petition has been effective despite relatively few signatures. Merry Christmas and happy New Year. I would be pleased to hear from any of you. John I conclude by thanking you for your support and hope you feel as pleased as me that on the face of it the petition was successful despite relatively few signatures
