Get the BBC to review their disgusting behaviour of smashing a perfect piano
The Issue
I and others agree that the BBC's absolutely disgusting behaviour should not be ignored. On the BBC 2 programme "Back in Time for the Weekend" (series 1, episode 2 - the 60s) we were outraged to see that the family were forced to smash a perfectly good piano to pieces with sledgehammers. How could that be the right behaviour? Just that people knew no better in the 60s does not mean that it it is okay to behave like that. It is meant to be a family show and it has definitely not shown that, although I wouldn't even expect a programme to show such shocking behaviour that isn't meant to be a family show. As well as, it was an absolutely outrageous waste of materials which the BBC and the people that we look up to always say that we shouldn't. There are many loving homes it could have gone to for example: a school, a community centre, a care home, a church or just a family home. Sometimes I wonder whether they actually think about what they are spending the TV license money of many hard working people on. That piano definitely deserved more respect than it received.
They have apologised and set that it was not a precious piano, although the clip that was shown was enough to get a feeling of what it was like. If they had refrained from smashing up the piano than we would have gotten the feeling of how times have changed.
I am hoping that the BBC will review their behaivour so that this does not happen again. This can not be ignored.
