Barrie Police handle another dog bite incident humanely, with treats.

After the dog shooting in June, Barrie Police have managed a dog bite situation differently this time.  Police saw two dogs who bit a man, and got them safely into a backyard with dog treats so they could be live captured by Animal Services.  

Now, at the OSPCA Barrie , we are asking the dogs go to a rescue.  Saw A Need Dog Rescue is full.   But another rescue could take them.

These dogs may be available from Barrie OSPCA August 17 after quarantine.  Please share the above police post to adopt this doggy duo!  

In the City of Barrie, municipal stray dogs are kept for a minimum of 3 days (excluding the day of impoundment and holidays) to give owners a chance to reclaim them. This holding period complies with Ontario's Animals for Research Act standards for municipal pounds. [1]

Where Strays Go
Stray dogs picked up by by-law or police in Barrie are typically taken to the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society Barrie and District Animal Centre (located at 91 Patterson Road), which acts as the holding facility. [1, 2, 3, 4]
After the mandatory 3-day stray hold period expires without an owner coming forward, ownership may transfer to the facility, making the animal eligible for adoption or other outcomes. [1]

Reclaiming a Lost Dog
To claim an impound, owners must provide:
Valid photo ID
Proof of ownership (such as vet records or photos)
Payment for applicable City of Barrie impound, licensing, and OSPCA care fees [1]
