Parents urge Barnet Council and The Compton secondary school to open their new free school in NW2.

This petition is urging Barnet Council and The Compton secondary school to recognise the immense need and support for the new Compton free school to be located in NW2, and to build the school in this area. As parents in Golders Green, Childs Hill, Cricklewood, Hampstead, West Hampstead, Kilburn and other southern borders of Barnet, we do not have a viable secondary option which can deliver competitive academic results in a nurturing environment, and which will continue the success our children have achieved in primary.

Barnet Council has approved the opening of a new free secondary school in Barnet (run by The Compton School) with a planned opening date of September 2018. This new school will aim to replicate The Compton Finchley, a highly successful secondary school in Finchley. 

Despite the original application being titled 'Compton Cricklewood' and including NW2 and NW9, currently sites for the new school are only being viewed in N3 and NW7  - areas within catchment of various existing high quality schools. NW2 and its surrounding areas in southern Barnet have a much greater need for this new school.

Please sign this petition to urge the Compton school to open its second location in NW2.

Barnet Council will be making the final decision on the new school's location before the end of next month so we need act now and make our voices heard - loudly.

We strongly encourage you to leave comments regarding which primary school your child currently attends, the immense lack of options present, and your commitment as parents to the new Compton Free school's success. Please also reach out to your local councillors and MP to ensure we as a community of engaged and committed parents are heard and the educational needs of our children met.
