CONGRATULATIONS!!! ... WE DID IT!
I am absolutely thrilled that Hendon Library will no longer be leaving its 100-year home thanks to the new Labour administration at Barnet Council.
Iconic is an overused word but the Hendon Library building truly is. It's not just a cherished symbol of our community & the last civic building we have full access to but also a library of national significance: it's where children's libraries and the BBC TV series Jackanory were invented by trailblazer Eileen Colwell. We hope to see at least some of the 1600 sqm (out of 1800) of the building leased out in 2017 returned to residents so that Hendon Library can again become the vibrant, fully functional library it once was.

We're also hoping that the new Hendon Partnership Board will provide the local community with a truly meaningful voice in how the Hendon Hub development plans are shaped, going forward.
In the meantime, regarding the current Hendon Hub plans and process, the Judicial Review is still in progress, several complaints have been submitted to the ICO; we have been encouraged to resubmit our 'communication' to the Aarhus Convention Compliance Committee; and most significant, the late Tony Mason's original complaint regarding the withholding of the Hendon Hub Business Case has been taken over by his widower, who has been granted right of appeal before the Upper Tribunal.
