Opposition is growing!

Thanks to everyone that has signed so far. There are political complexities around this proposal, probably exasperated by the forthcoming election and vote chasing within the rural communities. Herein lies my personal quandary....what is the actual impact to rural communities, who are the victims and what is the breakdown of the alleged annual $500m economic impact? Second to this I have not been able to find plausible evidence of Carp feeding behaviour causing so much turbidity in our rivers and lakes. This blame game seems to be built on rhetoric rather than specific research. Why is turbidity and the impact on other species not a high profile problem in other countries? I believe that our own agricultural practices and lack of storm water controls are a significant catalyst but it's too hard for the Govt to focus on. The Govt currently have the Invasive Species CDC whispering in their ear that they have a solution. This solution benefits both parties in that the funding can be justified. This is not the right grounds for rail roading a proposal without first having a full scale mitigation plan to manage the clean up. This in itself could backfire, yet the Govt tell us they are onboard, despite not giving a 100% green light - what is their actual game plan in announcing it now? If you would like to help more, please bring to my attention any evidence (articles, scientific or economic papers) you know of or can find that backs up the alleged environmental damage that Carp are responsible for. The best way to challenge this ridiculous idea is through facts, rather than emotive arguments and if there if there are no facts backing the proposal, there are no justifiable grounds to progress it.
