Barking & Dagenham council proposes to introduce virtual visitors parking permits (operated by Ringgo) to replace the scratchcards currently used. These permits will not be available by SMS, whilst street parking from Ringgo can be bought by SMS.

SMS access will be easier for many people to use than the web or smartphone app - particularly older people who are likely to have family visiting.

The SMS number should be one that can be messaged using Skype and other similar applications.
