Petition Against Extension Controlled Parking Zone BEC
Petition Against Extension Controlled Parking Zone BEC
The Issue
The borough of Barking and Dagenham is in the process of introducing a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) to many areas within the borough. This will introduce the need for residents to pay for parking permits in order to park in their own residents or area, as well as pay for their visitor's parking.
This is an extra increase to the cost of living and hinders people visiting the vulnerable and loved ones in the area.
Their arguments for introducing this CPZ are that over the last four years there have been 27 road accidents, therefore, introducing the CPZ will reduce road accidents in the area. However, there is no correlation between parking and accidents.
With 56% objection from the consultations, the council is still proceeding with the CPZ extension.
