Stephen Poloz, Governor of the Bank of Canada, Responds to Petition

The Bank of Canada has responded to our petition with a letter, and agreed to let us make it public. Be sure to have a look at the link below. It's disappointing to read that Mr. Poloz feels it is premature to commit to including both women and men on our bank notes! The Bank wants more public support and consultations, so it seems that 23K signatures aren't enough to show that Canadians want our bank notes to celebrate the achievements of citizens of both genders. More than eighty years after the Persons Case and this is an issue??? The Bank also wants to see if Canadians are supportive of it's tradition of not featuring individual Canadians - which is puzzling because we're currently featuring four former prime ministers and the queen right?
