South of the border, petitioners calling for an American woman on the $20 bill have selected Harriet Tubman as their top choice for the honour. Tubman was the winner of an unofficial online poll organized by an American campaign to replace former President Andrew Jackson with the portrait of a woman in 2020. The Women on 20s campaign recently presented a petition to the White House, and last month a Congressman from Illinois introduced a bill calling from an American woman to be honoured on the $20 bill. There hasn’t been a change in the portraits on American bills since 1929.
Can you count on your MP to take a stand for Canadian women on bank notes?
