Dear Neighbors, I am writing to provide an update regarding Bandera Electric’s commitment to bring high speed Internet to our community. MATERIALS, START DATE, AND PLANS Good news! The fiber optic materials have arrived at BEC and installation work is projected to begin in two weeks (mid-February 2017)!!! Further, BEC will be offering very high-speed Internet access at very competitive rates: a. 50Mbps for $49 b. 100 Mbps for $59 c. 1Gig for $149 To put the speed in perspective. Bee Creek offers 2-5 Mbps for $89. The slowest BEC plan is 10-times faster for almost half the price! TOWNHALL BEC is hosting a Town Hall Meeting to discuss the rollout of the installation, associated plans and funds allotted for installation in “our community.” In my opinion, it is very important to attend the meeting to obtain the details so please make every effort to attend. Thank you for your contribution to the “Bring High Speed Internet to Our Community” campaign that began in August 2015. The effort started with stuffing mailboxes to ascertain if the community was interested in bringing high-speed Internet to our area. You responded with a resounding “Yes!” In fact, the majority of you shared stories of your prior efforts (over several years) to get GVTC to listen to your pleas only for your requests to fall on deaf ears. Admittedly, I had a similar experience with GVTC. With persistence, GVTC’s “best offer” included homeowners paying $1500/home to have fiber installed. In stark contrast, Bandera Electric Cooperative was receptive to our pleas (outlined in the petition) and took our concerns seriously. Indeed, they demonstrated their willingness to act in the best interest of their coop members – me and you! Throughout the process, BEC has been professional, transparent, and collaborative. Please help me applaud them for their efforts by committing to their fiber optic service which they are working hard to provide our community. Use the link above to sign-up today.
