Outcome: BEC High-Speed Internet Townhall

Dear Neighbors, The BEC High-Speed Internet Townhall Meeting was very well-attended and informative. William Hetherington, CEO, presented a general overview including results regarding our effort. Before presenting to the BEC Board, William wanted the community to meet the following thresholds: 50% showing written interest and 25% submitted applications; there are a total of 265 members in our target area. To date, 213 (80%) have expressed written interest and 90 (34%) have submitted applications for broadband. He stated our community "exceeded expectations!" William confirmed he will be presenting this data to the BEC Board on August 24, 2016. If the BEC Board approves the installation of fiber optic cable for our community (ie, Phase I - see picture), then preliminary work (including seeking permits) will begin thereafter. He projects the fiber optic cable installation should be complete and service available the first half of 2017 (Q1/Q2). Please accept my sincere thanks for your patience with the frequency of communications and for supporting this effort which began in August 2015. I have high hopes for a positive outcome of the BEC Board Meeting and will certainly communicate information as it becomes available to me.
