GVTC Provides Feedback - Success Depends On Us

Dear Neighbor, In August 2015, we began a petition campaign to bring GVTC Fiber Optic Services to our community. We collected 208 signatures on a petition that was delivered to GVTC on September 25, 2015. Shortly after the petition, a few neighbors and I met with GVTC to discuss our request. Though the petition was initiated by one person, the effort has grown to include neighbors who have offered their time. Expertise reflected in the neighbor volunteer group has been beneficial for our effort. Following is a list of the neighbors who have attended meetings with GVTC and agreed to help communicate the message contained herein to fellow residents: •David Brock – Attorney •Wayne Godsey – Engineer •Mandy Jones – Marketing •Leonard Melcher – Telecommunications •Deets Finley, Jr – Business Owner •Deets Finley, Sr – Business Owner •Gary Gonzales (me) – Project Manager While Mandy and I are newcomers to the neighborhood, others on the list are longtime home- and business owners. GVTC has recently completed a feasibility analysis. The results of their analysis are contained in this message. The following sections outline key aspects and I encourage you to review all sections so you may make an informed decision: COSTS •Number of lots included in the GVTC analysis: 187 •Investment needed per lot: $1,513* GVTC is going to offer a bundle of services (including TV, Internet, and Phone) for $129 beginning January 2016. Using the attached worksheet, add-up and compare the difference in your monthly costs for services (TV, Internet, and Phone) against $129 per month. If you are like me, then you will recoup your investment in approximately 13 months. *The amount of household investment will increase for every household that decides not participate. BENEFITS •Home Value: GVTC has literature, provided by realtors, confirming availability of fiber optic services will increase the value of your home by $7,000. •Monthly Costs: You will benefit by paying lower monthly rates for services (TV, Internet, and Phone) •Speed: GVTC fiber optic services will provide 80 mbps download and upload speeds compared to 2 mbps for download and 0.93 mbps for upload. This means that fiber optic services will be nearly 40 times faster than radio tower service. In the end, you will get faster service for a lower monthly cost while increasing the value of your home. SERVICES Beginning January 2016, GVTC will offer bundles services (including TV, Internet, and phone) for $129. The speed of the services will be 40 times faster than current radio tower services. TIMELINE •February 1, 2016: Deadline to provide written commitment of investment to me •February 2, 2016: Communicate commitment level to community including a final decision about whether we proceed or do not proceed. If the interest level is sufficient to proceed, then additional information regarding check collection will be communicated at that time. ACTION Please email gary_m_gonzales@yahoo.com no later than February 1, 2016 indicating if you willing to commit to the required investment of $1,513 to bring GVTC Fiber Optics to our community. I had the opportunity to meet many neighbors while collecting signatures for the petition. While doing so, I head the same story – they have been trying for years to get GVTC to come to our neighborhood. Well friends, we now have the opportunity to do so but it will require a commitment on our behalf. A commitment that will be reimbursed by savings within several months, allow access to high speed services, and increase the sale value of your home. The opportunity is at hand but success depends on each one of us.
