The use of such preventive measures like these solid plastic spikes are so outdated .
I have heard of its like a human standing on Lego ??
Yes that does hurt ouch … but it does not burst your feet and drip with blood
The spikes at the beginning were not an overall concern ,until the nature of these hard plastic spikes were not being used to prevent but cause serious intentional injury as seen in enclosed pictures .
Sometimes man kind ruins things for others and brings issues like this matter to be highlighted and the need for new legislation to be updated .
As a keen gardener I fully accept an animal using a persons vegetable patch or grass is frustrating…. This is were there are so many other various preventative methods that can be applied to protect our gardens for what ever reason we feel is correct … rubber spikes for example effective and not going to inflict pain to injury .
Our beloved vets are under scrutiny at present for their prices as any animal owner would agree is highly expensive ,this is a huge part of the use of such preventative items to be avoided and laws and legislation such as the legality of the height restrictions.
In my own personal experience which has inspired myself to seek such changes . The height the spikes were applied to were not legally high enough but my local authority Council allowed them … why ?? What is the height restriction for ??
What I hope to do by highlighting this campaign is not a personal vendetta on any one looking for prevention of intruders into their gardens or private space . This is to protect and preserve not just cats but all aspects of wildlife . We as a nation of pet lovers need to be their voice !!
So thank you for all kind messages and support . Let’s be a little more kinder to each other and animals and our beautiful birds
