E.ON 18 Month Fixed Tariff - Save up to £160 per year on your energy bill

Hi everyone,

Firstly, a huge well done and thank you to everyone, we've got over 60,000 signatures on this petition now! Keep up the great work sharing it with your friends and family, please tag me in you social media posts as well! Next week I will draft a letter to Ofcom laying out what we're asking for in this petition. I also wanted to let you know that I've increased the ask, I've added in asking for a cap on early termination fees. It turns out there is no regulation on these and I have been speaking with someone who received a bill of over £1,500 for the early termination fee! It turns out we have no legal limits and last year Virgin removed their own £288 cap on early termination fees, so now they can (and do) charge upto 97% of the full value of the remaining contract as an early termination fee, which is insane for a service you're not getting. They also charge this is you're being forced to move home and they can't supply your new house, its just ridiculous. So yeah, keep an eye out for the letter next week on this.

I also want to say thank you to everyone that's used the Bill Cutting Tracker (first link above)! I'm surprised how popular it is, and I really appreciate the feedback, including that the previous name (the savings tracker) was a bit confusing, I've updated that now. It'd be great to hear some full success stories, so please do email me at Richard@TheRegulatorGuy.co.uk with how much you've been able to save and on what bills please! Also, I've heard your comments about not being able to actually write on the PDF without printing it, for some reason I'm not able to upload a word version, so if you'd like a word version you can just fill in properly, please email me at the email address above and I'll happily share it

I've written a short article on the energy updates from the budget announcement yesterday. Effectively, there were no announcements on energy that will impact your actual bills, but the oil and gas producers should start to pay a bit more tax than they have been over the last few years, which is obviously a good thing. The second link above will take you to that article so you can see the exact rule changes.

I also wanted to make sure you know there are up to £160 in savings to made from E.ON's current 18-Month fixed rate tariff. We need to be taking control of our bills, here is an easy way to start. If you're on a variable rate tariff or you have less than 7 weeks left on your fixed rate tariff, you should look at fixing again.

Finally, I've got an exclusive discount worked out with Home Emergency Assist for their boiler care packages, 35% off with the code REGULATORGUY. If your boiler is over 5 years old, I recommend looking into whether boiler insurance is something that could benefit you significantly.

Thanks all, thats everything for today, have a great weekend if I don't speak to you before. and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Richard Winstone
