Exciting news! After months of groundwork, we have a federal petition that's well-positioned to change the law and raise the social media age to 16!
MP Patrick Weiler (West Vancouver) is sponsoring our federal petition in the House of Commons. We're seeing support from major organizations such as the Canadian Medical Association and from parents around the country. The timing is right: Online safety is an agenda topic when the House resumes in September.
The challenge is that our TIMING IS TIGHT.
Our strategy has 3 prongs:
1. SIGNATURES - Paper petitions with signatures across Canada to show Canadians support this (that's where you come in)
2. MP OUTREACH - Calling MPs to lobby for broader support.
3. MINISTER INFLUENCE- Strategic influence through health and education leaders.

Everything counts! All you need is a signature and postal code, So please send even if you just get your family and neighbours! A few of us have already started gathering signatures and it has not been difficult.
