Hi everyone

3 months ago, I was speaking to customer service at Woolworths via email. I had started the convo with asking for the Woolworths Sustainability Plan. The lady I was speaking to then said that she could not just give it to me. After that, I asked her about plastic packaging on the Odd Bunch. She then emailed back and said this:

Dear Paige,

Thank you for contacting me in regards to plastic packaging in the Odd Bunch.

We understand and acknowledge your concerns around packaging waste, and plastic waste in particular.

Packaging is necessary for food safety and quality, protecting products in transportation, extending shelf life and reducing food waste. We are working hard to make our packaging as sustainable as possible by reducing the use of virgin plastic and increasing the amount of recycled content in our Own Brand packaging.

Under the Woolworths Group Sustainability Plan 2025, we’re committed to a goal of 100% sustainable Own Brand packaging. Much of the plastic used for pre-packed produce is recyclable, with rigid packaging recyclable via kerbside and soft packaging recyclable through the REDcycle program, available at select Woolworths stores. We continue to offer a wide range of loose fruit and vegetables in our stores.

If you need to contact me in the meantime, please feel free to do so.

At Woolworths, we value our customers and we listen and learn. You may receive a short survey after our interaction today on your experience regarding my service and another section about the woolworths brand overall. So if you have any feedback, Woolworths would love to hear it.

Thank you again for contacting me about your issue.

Kind regards,

Anu

After that email, I replied saying that last year, REDcycle had actually been discovered to have not been recycling most of our soft plastics. I asked her for some more info on that topic. It has been 3 months and no one has replied yet. I have tried emailing just customer service again but still I have had no reply.

If possible, please email Woolworths yourself, and share your opinion about this issue.

Thank you and please keep signing and sharing this petition!

Kind Regards                                                                                                                                Paige
