Great news BanTheBaggers!
WA's Environment Minister, Stephen Dawson has agreed that single-use plastic bags are a blight on the environment and has committed to looking at ways of ridding them from the state.
The Minister told The West Australian that local governments would be free to pursue their own bans, but the Government would explore the possibility of State-wide action.
“I’m a supporter of doing some work to see what we can do to ban the use or limit the use of single-use plastic bags.” The Minister said.
“I’m not sure what that would look like. But I’ve asked the Waste Authority to at least do some work and send some options in that space.
“They (plastic bags) do end up blocking our waterways and ending up in all sorts of places.”
Great words from the Minister. Now we just have to make it happen.
So why not send Stephen Dawson a big thank you for getting behind the #BANTHEBAG mission and encourage him to follow it up with the WA Premier, Mark McGowan so a state-wide ban becomes a reality.

Thanks for your great work. If we keep up the pressure, a nationwide ban is just a matter of time.
