I advise not to start beekeeping at the moment in NSW particularly close to Sydney or Newcastle bees are collapsing in some cases rapidly because of virus associated with Varroa.

 However now is the best time ever to beekeep in al other states of Australia because it’s last last time you will experience how great it is to experience beekeeping without varroa.
