In a shock announcement today @nsw_dpi not only will they continue killing healthy hives they are going to risk spreading varroa nationally by allowing interstate hive movement.

Beekeepers within the NSW blue zone who wish to move bees or hives into QLD or Victoria can apply for a permit through Department of Agriculture .

“I cant really believe DPI that you are allowing borders to be opened when still dealing with active cases. It will open the doors to spread. There will be a lot of beekeepers that won't go to polination because of that decision. It's very disappointing and disheartening that most of the country will now have to deal with the Mite going into the future. It's a sad day for Beekeeping.”

“7000 square kilometres of poisoned eradication zones, bee free for 3years, DPI is still finding new zones and they give the green light to the almonds... what a punch in the guts! — feeling broken.” Nathan

Previously Dpi nsw were pushing for hives to remain stationary

“The fastest way to spread Varroa mite is by people moving honeybees, hives and apiary equipment between apiary sites.

That's why we put movement restrictions in place as soon as the first mites were detected and confirmed.”

Beekeepers in the red zones are at breaking point

“Why are they killing my healthy hives while potentially spreading Varroa around the state and interstate”

Beekeeper Dolphi is raising funds to get a court injunction to stop the DPI from poisoning healthy bees and to stop the Fipronil baiting program.
