I have been a life-long resident of Golden Meadow & have always loved living in this town,seeing cats roam freely my whole life here & no one ever forcing the owners to lock them up in an enclosure until now..Here is my story..My neighbor is trapping my cats,b/c he doesnt like cats & doesnt like them walking or passing thru his yard,so after 6yrs of me living here w/my cats,he just started trapping them(luring & baiting them to go into his yard)this past week & b/c of this,I have a cat that we owned for almost 3-years that was picked up in this trap & dumped off somewhere in the back of a shell road where there are no houses or residences by a town worker..animal control never got the call to go retrieve my animal.This was an illegal animal abandonment.We believe that they killed my cat back there & the worker is saying that they left the trap w/the cat in it,then went back for it & she had escaped the trap..Such a lie!My boyfriend & I have been rescuing animals that are dumped & neglected for over 6-years now.We spay & neuter to help the community keep the population down..We want to make a difference.My cat never had a surviving chance & this neighbor is contiuning to lure my cats & any others to his yard,by putting bait out & they smell that from a good distance away,so it is him that is enticing them.All of my cats are 'fixed' & up to date on their vaccines.I dont understand why there's a law saying that cats have to be in an enclosed area,if they are to live outside or they will get picked up & brought to the shelter.I have rescued some semi-feral cats that will not live indoors w/me & will not respond well to having to live in an enclosure.They just enjoy the heck out of basking in the sun or rolling around in the grass & chasing bugs.I look around me & see cats in every other street that the owners are not told to lock them up or they will lose them but now I'm being told that & my cats dont get into ppl's garbage..they're all healthy & are overly taken care of...I would like to get a petition going in lafourche parish in Louisiana,in my lil' town of Golden Meadow or anywhere that I can gather ppl to come together for this & sign,saying that if a cat is spayed/neutered,de-flead,de-wormed & up to date on vaccines,that they should have the right to play loosely in & out of the yard,as they have been for thousands of years.Please sign this petition to do away w/such a law that requires,but doesnt push it,until someone calls & heavily complains,about cats being refrained to walk freely in the open space & that they have to be made to live in an enclosure.I would like to see my cats live the same lives as every other cat down all of the streets around me & in my town do.I know of no one else that was made to have to build an enclosure for them or I will lose them to the pound/shelter if I dont abide..so please help sign this petition to help any & all cats that are well taken care of & enjoy their freedom,as it's been for thousands of years w/these animals.Thank you for your time,Jenny Collins
