Dear Friend First of all, THANK YOU. You are one of more than 270,000 people asking Ban Ki-moon and world leaders to protect the high seas and restore ocean health. We am deeply grateful for the overwhelming support that you and others around the world have shown over the last three months. On Sunday evening, Global Ocean Commission Co-chair Trevor Manuel, together with National Geographic explorer-in-residence Sylvia Earle, delivered our petition to His Excellency Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Jan Eliasson in New York. Mr. Eliasson highlighted the importance of ocean health for the planet and future generations. This petition is a wake up call for global leaders and we are very hopeful that as a result of the power of our collective voice, the UN General Assembly opening this week in New York will now initiate negotiations for a new high seas agreement. We all depend on a healthy ocean and its restoration is an urgent global priority. Once again, thank you for your support.
