Update on deflocking progress in Franklin County, KY

We’re making progress, and your support keeps us moving forward! Here’s what’s happened so far:
Since the start of this petition, your signatures and voices of opposition to ALPRs helped to end the contract with Flock in the city of Frankfort! Incredible! On October 12, the Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to end the city's contract with Flock. Even though this was a step in the right direction, we do have some concerns with this:
- Pending the outcome of midterms the city could reverse the vote and vote to renew the contract with Flock for the coming year.
- For every day that a Flock camera remains standing and recording, that is another day of our Fourth Amendment being violated.
- The county still has 10 Flock cameras operational.
At the Fiscal Court meeting on Oct 21, members of DeFlock Franklin County, KY shared their concerns with the county about the use of Flock. Sheriff Dwayne Depp is the one in charge of overseeing their operation and he renewed the contract that former Sheriff Logan Curry had entered into prior to Depp. A small group from DeFlock Franklin County, KY has a meeting scheduled with Sheriff Depp this coming week and we look forward to a productive meeting with him.
We cannot thank you enough for your support and for being a member of this cause to remove Flock as well as ban ALPRs in Franklin County! We still need as many signatures as we can get, as Flock remains operational within the county. We also hope to achieve a ban on ALPRs within Franklin County and this has yet to be achieved. Please share this petition with as many people as you can, and write to our local representatives and law enforcement about your concerns.
