Huge win!!! We have been advised by the electric bike society that the government has officially legalised electric bikes on all three of the Gili islands- Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air!!! When we arrived on the island in May 2023 electric bikes were being made illegal. This is a huge step to ending the exploitation of the horses used as cidomo’s (horse drawn carts) on the islands!!! There is now an alternative transport method available on the islands. Thank you to all who signed and donated to the petition and cause, we could not do this without you all! We have also been advised that Gili T is still looking to implement golf carts but this is still in the planning stage.
